Excerpt from article, "A Trip to Shasta"
by Jeff Edelheit
KenZen Japanese Restaurant was one of the highlights of my trip.
When you arrive it appears to be a normal sushi bar as the entire staff sends you a greeting as you enter.
The room is filled with beautiful artwork and an atmosphere that clearly says, "leave life's stress at front door, please!"
Where have you seen a menu at a Japanese restaurant that has Curry Lentil Soup and other exotic dishes?
As we watched sushi chefs, Ken and Akira, work their magic preparing the sashimi and other delectables, you see the artist in them come to the surface.
Each step was done as if in tune to the music of Mozart, while painting a Rembrandt.
To add to this Ken picked up a guitar and entertained us with songs from Hawaii.
As Ken went back to his sushi role, Akira stepped behind the electronic keyboard and played classic and rock, each with beautiful flair and warming to the heart of the patrons.
Many steps are taken to insure proper care of their customers - from having the best quality of fish blown in by Fedex to using the better quality of seaweed, rice and other ingredients.
KenZen is an adventure in itself.
They even have artists' work in the bathroom....
